After buying a summer house on Islesboro, Maine, Kirstie Alley is black-balled from joining the Tarrantine Yacht Club because of being a high profile actress, and her membership in Scientology. So she hires me to photograph her with all the influential grande-dames of the summer colony, hoping to win them over. Here she sits with Sister Parrish, famous NYC interior designer who decorated the Kennedy White House.
Kirstie frames the prints in silk and linen mats and gilded frames and hangs them in the second floor hallway between the ten bedrooms of her summer home. Years later, I'm stuck in a Fort Worth airport with nothing but time on my hands. As I stand thumbing through magazines in the gift shop, I stumble upon a photo spread of Kirstie in LA Design and see her photographed in front of all my photographs. I nudge the woman standing next to me, "Hey, I took those photographs." She looks at me like I'm crazy and walks away.
